As with many of its previous meetings, things didn’t get interesting at the Washington Town Council meeting last Wednesday until late.
That was when discussion - led by town attorney John Bennett - turned to the possibility of including most of Phase II wastewater users in Phase I instead of adding more customers at some later time.
The rationale was that these properties were along streets or avenues in which the opposite sides were in Phase I so it made sense to just include the other side as well.
Citing that it was a “win-win” for everybody, Bennett said the proposal to rezone these properties from rural residential to village residential would allow for “better land use,” and allow the town to collect more money for the sewer up front.
