Land in trust for
everyone
The Land Trust of Virginia is a private, nationally accredited, nonprofit, land conservation trust formed in 1992 with the mission of preserving in perpetuity Virginia’s unique landscapes, heritage and historical resources. The Trust considers all types and sizes of property easements that have conservation value and whose donation constitutes a public benefit. No property is too small.
In exchange for easements that will prevent rapid, uncontrolled development, landowners receive federal and state tax credits while still retaining ownership of their land.
The Virginia tax credits can be used by the landowner or sold to others to generate income against future land sales to developers.
