noon, at a Vietnamese bistro in a Manassas strip mall - where a diminutive and kind elderly Vietnamese man served incredible dishes of simple food - Mason talked about divorce, death and loss; about fortunes gained, and fortunes lost; about life and when the real , love starts.
Mason has the talent to have been a high rotation singer/songwriter - he was once approached, he said, to be the “next David Cassidy.” There’s but a fract ion of difference between that success, and what he is now - a singer/songwriter living in the rolling hills of Rappahannock writing songs about our place in the world and what it means to live. He got the better end of the deal.
“My writing is about trying to dig deeper,” into life, he said.
“It's about changes and how you get through them, the dark and the light and the interplay between the two,” he continued.
Ultimately, we have to live both, he said, the light can be as blinding as the darkness.
Instead of super stardom.
