vyoatrewa uwne uemonstrauon Club had a goodly number present at their meeting on the 23rd. Approximately, 16 women attended the meeting. At this meeting the program was also on Recreation. This summer the club decided to have a picnic (or the youth in their community. Mrs. Doris Coughlin planned at this meeting to attend the “Canning and Freezing” leader training meeting on the 23rd. Mrs. Thomas Williams gave a very good garden report. The meeting had a most enjoyable ending. The hostess served most delicious caramel cake and pineapple icecream.
On May 25 an all day clothing leader training meeting was held in the county at the Washington Fire house. Miss Ann Willis of V.P.I. presided over this clothing leader meeting. She explained to the 8 4-H clothing leaders, that attended, what was. expected of them in conducting 4-H work this summer. The following 4-H leaders attended this meeting: Mrs. Edna Wayland, Mrs. Doris Coughlin, Mrs, Clarence Scott, Mrs. , Frank Cary, Mrs. Pearl Mills, Mrs. Lewis Harrison, Mrs. Stanley Williams, and Mrs. George Taylor.
Mrs. Carter White entertained the Slate Mills Home Demonstration Club May 24 at 7:30 p.m. The program carried on was “Recreation.” This seemed to be enjoyed by everyone. It was decided that the next demonstration would be on “Freezing and Canning of Vegetables and Fruits.”
Sixteen women attended the “Canning and Freezing of Fruits and Vegetables” demonstration given at the Washington Fire House. This was a leader training meeting and was very expertly conducted by Miss Elizabeth Farrar, county home agent of Culpeper county. The women enjoyed this demonstration so much, and along with the agent wish to - thank Miss Farrar for coming and giving such a worthwhile and informative demonstration.
