Sperryville Fire Company
Inaugurates Finance Plan,
A business meeting of the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department was held at the high school auditorium Wednesday, May 24, with 37 persons present.
The main objective discussed was instituting a plan whereby all property owners in the vicinity of Sperryville would be contacted for the purpose of subscribing a small amount of money to be paid annually, for a period of from three to five years, to the fire company so that it will be possible to have a regular operating income.
* A new truck is greatly needed by the fire company in order to speed up the company’s service to outlying districts of Sperryville.
The Sperryville Fire Company will be three years old in August. It has answered 22 calls during that period. The majority of the $5,000 raised in this three-year period was used to purchase firefighting equipment.
A good response was received to the appeals of the company by those attending the meeting.
