Superintendent Casque, parents, teachers, friends:
It is with a very special pleasure that we, the 1950 graduating class of Sperryville High School welcome you to our Commencement exercises. We are glad that you are here to witness the attaining of this goal, toward which we have been working for twelve years. In case there are some in the audience who do not know all of us, allow me to introduce ourselves. First, the president of our class, George Butler, Jr., of Boston, Virginia. Jean Brown, of Sperryville, Carolyn Jenkins ‘ of Woodville, Harry Trescott, Jr., of Sperryville and Joan Kelly Aylor of Sperryville,
As you may have heafd at our class night program, we numbered twenty when we entered high school but only five of us are left to graduate. Of the other fifteen four are married, two are .in the armed services, and the rest are working at Various jobs.
We five have resisted all of the away-from-school attractions, and are grateful now to our parents and to our teachers for their support and encouragement as we have worked together throughout our school life. We have had to study we admit, but there hds been plenty of time provided for extra curricular activities, such as basketball, baseball, parties, picnics, educational trips and numerous programs for the public— May Day for instance.
These good times seem to remain more firmly fixed in - our minds than do any of the hardships we may have endured, and we hope that this program will pro^e to be a pleasant experience which you will hope to remember.
