Once upon a time there were high schools in Rappahannock County at Washington, Sperryville, Amissville, Flint Hill, Woodville and Belle Meade. By 1923 or thereabouts, the number of such schools in this county had dwindled to two—those at Washington and Sperryville.
Beginning with the session of 1923-24,> Sperryville began to offer four years of high school work of the traditional type; English, Mathematics, Latin, History and Science. Ten or .twelve years ago a course in Vocational Agriculture was set up for the boys in each of the two high schools, with | one instructor travelling back and forth from Washington to Sperryville. About five years ago a course in Home Economics was established likewise for the girls in both schools. „
