Conduct Exercises
Giving School History
Senator Raymond Guest, of the 24th Senatorial District, delivered the address to the 38th and final graduating class of Washington High School Tuesday evening at the school auditorium.
The 41st and final graduation exercises of Sperryville High were held last evening with the seniors conducting the program featuirng the school’s history.
The topic of Senator Guest’s address was “Where You Came From, Where You Are Going* and How You Are Going to Get There.” He stressed the importance of the graduates’ doing everything in their power to preserve our democratic form of government, and the prevention of future wars which might destroy democracy.
Senator Guest spoke of the beauty of Rappahannock county and the state of Virginia from which the graduates came, and the privileges they enjoyed as American citizens. He told the Seniors that even thought they” might be sorry that their high school days had drawn to a close, they should not dwell too much on the past but should strive to build for the future. He stressed the importance of education and hard work, two of the main re-,;,.-. quirements for a successful career.
