W. H. Daughtrey, Director of the V.P.I. Extension Service, announced by letter of! October 5th that: "No samples of forage, postmarked later than 12:00 midnight, October 31, 1964, will be tested by the Virginia Department of Agriculture in cooperation wltl V.P.I. "Only samples of Alfalfa, or Alfalfa - grass mixtures will be accepted for testing between now and this final date. The primary reason for testing program during 1964 was to determine the extent and levels of pesticide contamination of milk and dairy cattle forage. About 1000 forage samples have been tested and results summarized. The main reason for continuing testing is to provide individual producers with results on their 1964 forage. Those producers who have not had their forage tested and have a question about the status of their forages can get their forage tested through this program, provided their samples are in by October 31st. In conclusion Mr. Daughtrey stated: "It will take approximately three (3) months to complete tests on all samples now on hand and anticipated by October 31st." Order of testing will be as originally planned.
