The pubils in grades 4 through 7 in Sperryville Elementary School started their “Special Reading Program” on Monday. The students are grouped so that each one reads on his own level regardless of his grade placement. Three 45-minute periods per week are devoted to this program which stresses phonics, other basic reading skills, and reading for meaning. This same type of program, now in effect for the fourth year, is also used in the county schools. Mrs. Juliette Johnson is the teacher in the. picture.
