France, an Eagle Scout and Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, is a graduate of the University of Maryland and has done graduate work at The American University.

Beard Graduates In June Beard will come to the Shenandoah Area Council right from Salem College, Salem, W. Va., where he graduates with a Bachelor of Arts in June.

He is currently president of the Humanics Student Association, bookstore chairman, and an officer in both Alpha Phi Omega and the Canterbury Club at Salem. Beard also attended Hagerstown Community College.

He has been' in Scouting for 10 years and achieved both Webelos and Eagle. As an adult Scouter, Beard has been an Associate Explorer Advisor and Philmont Expedition leader. He has served on summer camp staffs tor a number of years.

Beard, who is single, is an active member of the Episcopal Church.

He will become acting Sheniapawa District Scout Executive on June 15 and then enter the 267th National Training School at Schiff Scout Reservation, M e n d h a m, New Jersey, June 29.

Both France and Beard started their Scouting as boys in their mutual hometown, Hagerstown, Md., and both men also share starting their prolessional Scout mg experience in the Shenandoah Area Council, with headquarters in Winchester.

Dr. Powers, in behalf of the Executive Board of the local council and the other two staff members, Scout Executive Vernon G. LaBarre and District Scout Executive William M. Mettler, Jr., wishes both France and Beard success in their new positions in professional Scouting.

Flint Hill WSCS Meet.

The W.S.C.S. of Flint Hill Methodist Church met last Thursday at the home of Mrs. M. R. Bradford. Mrs. James Grimmer conducted an Faster program. Others present were Mrs. Lock Burford, Mrs. G. W. Smith, Jr.. Mrs. Barbara Gentry, Mrs. Ida Trump, Mrs Emory Russell and Mrs. Paul Miller.
