Revised procedures for hand ling dogs caught running loose in Shenandoah National Park were announced today by Supes intendent R. Taylor Hoskins. In the past, owners who allowed their dogs to run in the Park in violation of Federal regulations faced the pos& ibility of court action but under the new procedures dogs will be impounded and returned to the owners on payment of costs for capturing and caring for them until they are claimed. Hoskins stressed that these procedures will not preclude flagrant violators from being cited before the U. S. Commissioner, as in the past. Hoskins said that two wellconstructed holding pens have been readied for use, one at Big Meadows and the other in the headquarters area east of Luray. Each pen has been divided into four compartments, with houses provided for individual dogs impounded. Procedures as set forth in the Code of Federal Regulations were outlined by Hoskins as follows; If the owner of an impounded dog is known he will be given written notice after which he will have five days in which to retrieve his animal on payment of the charges incident to impoundment. If the owner is unknown, no
