drafts. To preserve the beauty of flowering branches, wash the stems with hot soapsuds after the branches are brought indoors. Repeat this treatment with a change of water about every third day. This stops the growth of bacteria which cause objectionable odors and shorten the life of the branches, The popular artificial flowers must be clean to be decorative. Whenever they show signs of soil, wash them off with a soft cloth wrung out of soap or detergent suds; then rinse-wipe. Or swish the flowers through a solution of warm suds and rinse the same way. To wash Ming trees, fill a basin with light suds and immerse the container. Spill suds over the plant with a cup, working auickly so the moisture won t have a chance to loosen glued parts. Then rinse the piece, shake off excess water, and let it air dry. The County 4-H Share-the Fun Contest is set for Friday night, April 30, at 7:30 p.m. at the Washington Elementary School. This promises to be a good show, so don’t miss it. The Arts and Crafts’sketching outing had to be postponed on Tuesday due to bad weather. This activity has been rescheduled for May 4.
