The 38th annual Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival begins today in Winchester and continues Friday and Saturday. Miss Neva Rockefeller of New York will reign as queen of the festivities and will be crowned at 2;30 p. m. by Senator George Murphy of California. Senator Murphy was for many years a motion picture star and an executive in the motion picture industry. The queen’s court will consist of thirty-four young ladies from area colleges and universities and a representative from the Horticultural Societies of Virginia. West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
A pageant, ‘Wonderland of Spring' will be presented at 3 p. m. and«consists of music, song and dance. A repeat performance will be presented Friday at 10:30 a. m. More than 600 participants will present the springtime spectacle which will be narrated by Owen Phillips, director of Wayside Theatre, Middletown, Va.
