Up to 4 Virginia black bears may find that they no longer have a private life after grad-1 uate student Paul Painter of Emory and Henry College gets through equipping them with >radio transmitters, the Vir-i ginia Game Commission re[ports. The purpose of the project
is to snoop into daily movements and routine of this seldom seen game animal. The IGame Commission has provided Painter with 15trapsand best wishes for success. This technique has been used in animal studies in other states, but this will be the first application in Virginia. The Game Commission has been considering attaching radio transmitters to newly released ,'pheasants to study their movement and dispersion.
