Over 1,300,000 Fires
Over 1,300,000 fires occurred in U. S. cities having a population of 2 500 and over in 1064, Mr. Dorsett said. Approximately 400,000 homes were damaged or destroyed.
"These figures indicate that fire prevention is of vital content to all,” Mr. Dorsett declared. "Our daily and weekly newspapers and radio and tele\ision stations can render a great public service by telling their readers, listeners and viewers how to protect themselves, their families and their property from fire.”
Mr. Dorsett said that while care with fire is particularly important to keep Christmas and New Year's a joyous and happy time, fire prevention is a yearround job.
