Trees Planted In
County Courtyard
Nine silver maple trees were planted in the courthouse yard at Washington Monday. Officiating at the planting was J. Newbill Miller, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors. He was assisted by his son Brooke and Page Lea, small daughter of Judge and Mrs. T. C. Lea and Eddie Foster. Some of the old trees in the courtyard have been removed and in a recent wind storm one of them blew down. Mr. Miller was particularly interested in the planting project, for he said his forebearers had planted the large trees there. Also changing the scene on Gay Street was the removal of the two large trees which stood in front of Rappahannock National Bank. They were taken down this week.
