Firearms Are Fatal
Firearms ranked fourth in causes of accidental deaths to rural Virginians in 1958. Forty-one people in the rural section of our state met their death thi6 way. Of the forty-one deaths, twenty-one occurred in public places, seventeen at the home or on the premises, two in unspecified places and one on a farm. Almost one-third (14) of the victims were between the ages of twenty-five and forty-four years. Eight were between fifteen and twenty-four years; eight between five and four-j teen years; five were between forty-five and sixty-four years; four over sixty-five years and two were between the ages of one and four years.)
