Insure Womens Reign
The women continue to hold the upper hand in the Town of Washington as Tuesday’s election discloses. Mrs. Dorothy Davis was re-elected to the office of Mayor. She was first elected to this position in 1950 along with an all-woman council. Though she has not served continuously in this office since that time, this will be her seventh term. Mrs. Marth Ann Critzer held the office for two terms. Mrs. Virginia G. Miller was elected to the position of councilwoman treasurer of the town for the second term. Until 1964 the Treasurer of the county also acted as Treasurer of the town when this was changed by an act of the General Assembly. Mrs. Miller had been on the council prior to this.
