Re-elected to the council were Mrs. Dorothy B. Hawkins, Mrs. Bertha Armel and Mrs. Edna Wayland. Mrs. Hawkins was ah initial member of the all woman council in 1950 and has served continuously since. Mrs. Armel was first elected in 1962, while Mrs. Wayland has been in office since 1960. All of the] above mentioned candidates! had qualified for election and were included on the ballot. Two new councilwomen were elected on a write-in vote.! They were Mrs. Christine; Johnston and Mrs. Welland; Flynt. They will fill seats’ vacated by Mrs. Mary V. Updike and Mrs. Mary H. Lea; who did not qualify for election. Mrs. Johnston had served two terms on the council in the 50's, but Mrs. Flynt will be startinga maiden term.
