Mrs. Hazel F. Daly. Social Security District Manager, to, day announced that seven hosv pitals in this area have thus far been found eligible under the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to participate in Medicare beginning July 1, providing they also meet requirements for hospital standards set by die Department of Health, Education and Welfare. The hospitals in this area are: | Winchester Memorial Hospital, Winchester, Va.; Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Woodstock, va.j Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal, Va.; Page Memorial Hospital, Luray, Va.; City Hospital, Martinsburg, W. Va.; Kings Daughters Hospital, Martinsburg, w. Va.* and Morgan County War Memorial Hos. ,, pital, Berkeley Springs, W. . Va, The Civil Rights status of other hospitals is now being reviewed. Their names will f be announced on a continuing basis as soon as the information submitted by them is evaluated and processed. Nationwide, 5,583 hospitals have been found eligible, representing approximately 72% of all general and special hospitals able to care for elderly patients, with approximately 77% of hospital beds in this classification.
