Mrs. Rebecca Edmonds of Front Royal was a visitor Sunday of Mrs. James Lillard. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lee Smith and Miss Lee Smith, and Mr. and Mrs. George H. Davis, Jr. and family attended the King-Austin wedding Saturday in Warrenton. Miss Dorothy Taylor Davis and Miss Lee Smith were bridesmaids at the ceremony. Miss Mary Miller Wood, Mrs L. J. Turner and Miss Carolyn G. Turner attended a concert Sunday evening at Grace Baptist Church in Alexandria. It was a program dedicating a new organ in the church. Mrs. Fern Wilbur and Mrs. DeMaris Gaines of Oklahoma, mother and sister of the minister the Rev. Warren Wilbur were participants in the concert with the organ, piano and harp. A reception for Mrs. Gaines and Mrs. Wilbur in the church-yard was held following the concert.

Much of State Taxes
Special levies on highway users accounted for 34 per cent of the total state taxes collected in Virginia during fiscal 1965, according to figures compiled by the U. S. Department of Commerce and reported by the Virginia Petroleum Industries. Ralph G. Roop, Chairman, Virginia Petroleum Industries said that state taxes on motor fuel, which amounted to $111,151,000 last year, constituted the largest single item in the highway-user category.' Other special taxes on vehicle owners included registration and drivers’ license fees and motor carrier taxes, Roop pointed out.
