Mrs. Haggerty says she Is the organizer in the family, and keeps a steady pace overseeing and tending to the dozens of unexpected crises and details. Since the Haggertys have traveled extensively and lived for only short periods of time in one place, schedules and details come naturally to her. While the family lived in Germany, Sue had lessons and became experienced in dressage. In addition the numerous years of riding which started in a Vermont Camp much like Roundabout have provided her with experience in all phases of horsemanship. Sue rides often with the Rappahannock Hunt. Of all the hardships and pitfalls they have met in organizing and constructing Roundabout, one of the most memorable ones will be the blizzard of 66. No matter what the weather is, horses have to be fed and watered, and on that Sunday the trek to the horse barns several hundred yards away was treacherous. However, this was accomplished and the animals were watered by melting snow because the water supply had not yet been piped to the barn.
