The Virginia Division of Forestry advises that the state’s open air burning law comes into effect on the first of March. During the period from March 1 to May 15, it will be unlawful to do any burning within 300 feet of woods or brushland before 4 p.m. This applies to the burning of any trash, brush, leaves, etc., regardless of precautions which may be taken.
