THE General Assembly has been voting on a number of controversial^ issues and major problems. The Senate has passed several tax bills relating to taxes on coal, dividends, beer and other alcoholic beverages and commissions for the collection of sales taxes. These bills will have to go through the House Finance Committee and all or a part of these proposals will probably be presented to the House of Delegates next week.
The pari-mutuel bill came to the House of Delegates last week and in the form it was reported to the House of Delegates the bill authorized pari-mutuel betting at private race tracks under regulations and supervision of a State Racing Commission subject to the favor
