Spring Hill. Mrs. Redmond Toerge’s Ask the Price in his first timber race took the lead initially with Code of the Hills. There was a great rattling of boards as several horses hit the second fence, the little coop going down into the pond field. Cousin Wes hit the ninth on top of the hill, almost losing rider Jonathan Ruhsam, who hung on by a hair.
Coming back out of the pond field, Timber Topper collided with the beacon on the sharp right turn to the aiken, and fell. On the last turn into the far field, J.B. Secor on Mrs. Polinger’s Idol Fellow hugged the inside, gaining valuable lengths and took the last fence on top, galloping home a length ahead of Randolph Rluse’s Cousin Wes. Third was Mrs. Robert Crompton’s Master’s Degree, Paddy Neilson up, followed by Ask the Price,
