Beth Clark on Jo-Ann’s Brother. She led from wire to wire, except for a momentary challenge from Wallys Dennis on War Lis, who was second. Robert Green, riding Prince DeDe, was next, followed by Reggie Vickers in his first start. Eleven started and seven finished.
Twelve went to the post for the ninth and final race, which was a close and exciting battle for a mile and a quarter on the turf, with Larry Campbell’s Jean’s Rythm and Martin Kremer’s Score Sheet among the early leaders. The field was closely bunched as they roared down the stretch.
Jennifer Youngman on her Doc Hepp was the winner by only a nose over Brice Ridgely’s Arctic Avens, ridden by Mary Anne Bounds. Third was Earl Miller’s Run Proof.D
