Canoe races
THE 1976 version of the Virginia Championship Canoe Races will be run on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River April 24-25. The canoe racing events are sponsored by the Front Royal Jaycees. in co-operation with the Virginia Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries and the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.
A total of 1,165 people entered the 1975 races in 693 canoes and kayaks. Thousands of others traveled to the Shenandoah Valley to watch. More than 50 clubs were represented from every state east of the Mississippi.
