From Page 3 race was split. In the first division Bill Walsh’s Task Order was the early leader, to be replaced by Mack Crippen’s Mr. Royal C. Then Richard Rector’s Atta Boy John and Task Order passed him and went head and head over the second last where Mr. Royal C. fell.
Going into the last, it was Task Order on top with Mr. Jam moving up strongly. Atta Boy John went almost to his knees on landing, and Besomer A1 lost his rider. Down the stretch they tore, with Alfred Knowles’s Mr. Jam, J.B. Secor riding, winning by a half a length ovef Task Order. Atta Boy John, Jonathan Ruhsam up, was third.
