Rappahannock New* Staff Writer The State Compensation Board may no longer reimburse Rappahannock County for mileage in policing county businesses and residences, according to information received by the Supervisors at last Thursday’s Board meeting. Chairman E. P. Luke read a letter received by Sheriff W. A. Buntin from the Compensation Board’s Executive Secretary John Rasnick that stated “to be reimbursable the trip must be made in response to a complaint, making an inspection or visiting known or reported (complaint) potential trouble spots or areas in an effort to prevent probable law violations, serving warrants or summons, etcetera. Mileage accumulated in routine checking or checking private residences and commercial establishments is not considered an allowable item for reimbursement unless preceeded by a special request.”
In response to these findings, the supervisors authorized Luke to work with Sheriff Buntin in setting up police procedures that would satisfy both the Compensation Board and Board of Supervisors.
