un August ju, two eiaeriy friends from Birmingham, Ala. left my home at 9 p.m. for The Helen House on Route 627 just 3 miles from Washington. By 10 p.m. they hadn’t reached their destination so I called the Dispatcher in Culpeper and within five minutes Deputy Martin Orfila responded and expressed much concern for the lost ladies and assured me that he would "immediately start a search for them.
Later Deputy Orfila reported that he had no trace of them. He comforted me and my family and said that his department and the State Troopers were doing everything in their power to locate them. Around 2 a.m. Deputy Orfila reported the ladies had been found safely after being lost in the dense fog on our county roads for several hours.
We as citizens of Rappahannock County are extremely fortunate to have such a dedicated Sheriffs Department and State Troopers to protect us.
