(e) Two ringers score 6 points,: fc-l-aty. ■ - (f) A player having two ringers to one for the opponent scores 3 points. (g) All equals count as ties and no points are scored. (h) Should each contestant have a ringer, the next closest shoe, if within 6 inches, will score 1 point. (i) A leaning shoe has no value over one touching the stake. PITCHING 1. In pitching, a player must stand within the box and 18 inches or more away from the stake until the shoe reaches the opposite box. 2. When not pitching, a player must stand behind the man in action and shall not disturb him in any way. 3. A player may not walk to the opposite stake or be informed of the position of the shoes until an inning is completed. 4. A pitched shoe is one that has left the pitcher’s hand. Shoes involved in a foul are credited as shoes pitched but are not to receive any point value. FOULS
Any pitched shoes involved in a foul will not receive any point value. The following is a list of fouls: 1. Illegal delivery of a shoe. 2. Failure to stay behind the pitcher. 3. Touching a shoe before measurements have been taken (The penalty for infraction of this rule is disqualification of both of the offender’s shoes.) 4. Bothering an opponent. 5. Shoe which strikes any part of the pitcher’s box. 6. Touching the outer edges of the box (which are called foul lines) or extending the foot over the foul line when pitching. 7. Shoe which first strikes outside the foul lines and then rebpunds within the box.
Annual Red Cross
The annual meeting of the Fauquier Chapter, American Red Cross, of which Rappahannock is a part, will be held at the St. James Episcopal parish hall in Warrenton on Wednesday, September 14. The meeting begins at 3 p.m. and will include, in addition to regular business, an awards ceremony. The public is invited to attend.
