DELEGATE CANDIDATE BUTCH DAVIES launched six canoes for supporters and press representatives who took part in a trip down the Rapidan River last week, organized by Davies to highlight the river’s recreational potential. It was push, shove and tow more than row, row, row your boat as the Rapidan was lower than it’s been in years. Still, the jaunt was an unqualified success and candidate Davies more than made his point—the Rapidan can be used for recreation without violating the property rights of riverside landowners. It was interesting to note that more wildlife than litter was spotted during the five hour trek. Only two beer cans, one coke bottle and one milk container floated along the river with the canoes.
