The Shenandoah National Park in the Blue Ridge Mountains contains a vast area which is managed mainly for recreation. Other uses, such as timber harvesting, are prohibited. Even some forms of recreation (such as hunting) are excluded. Fishing and camping are permitted, but even these activities are strictly regulated. So the use of this vast acreage, discounting the Skyline Drive, is limited to a devoted minority. Realizing the cost to the county, is this not an injustice to the taxpayer to benefit a specialinterest minority?
