Resigns
The Rappahannock School Board voted unanimously to accept the resignation of assistant Superintendent of schools Ray Hogan at Tuesday’s meeting.
Superintendent William Bloomer recommended that the Board accept the resignation so that Hogan can return to the University of Virginia. He plans to continue full-time graduate study to complete his doctorate degree there.
"It’s with reluctance that I make this recommendation,” said Bloomer, adding that he had enjoyed working closely with Hogan over the last year. "1 wish you well in your future endeavors,” he told his former assistant.
Hogan’s resignation is effective as of June 30.
Amissville
Carnival
Opens Wed.
Amissville Fire Company will initiate the carnival season in Rappahannock with their four-night event which is scheduled for Wednesday through Saturday, June 21 to 24.
Wednesday, opening night is featured as family night with good wholesome entertainment, rides, food, games and concessions for all ages. Thursday evening’s highlight is the big parade scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. with entries of floats, marching units, comics, fire and rescue equipment, scouts and others.
A carnival queen will be crowned Friday evening and the gala event will be climaxed Saturday with the awarding of a grand prize and other prizes. Good food and drinks will be availble each evening.
“We plan the biggest and best carnival ever,” declared a company spokesman. There will be all types of entertainment for all the family, he said.
Amissville carnival grounds are located on Route 211 west of the village of Amissville.
