“The problem is so extensive,” commented Dean Irvine. “Can we really justify a summer school program for those 60 folks?” He suggested instead that work begin now on the coming fall program.
Describing the summer reading project as “a pilot program,” Mrs. Massie maintained that the School Board would be remiss to drop the proposal now that interest has been shown. The experience gained in the summer program will help in planning for the regular school year and for summer school next summer, she concluded.
Teachers who will instruct in the summer reading program are:
Ed Potts—12 students in two reading groups.
Susan Hrbek—10 students in two reading groups.
James Fountain —10 students in two reading groups.
Annie Moore—7 students in three reading groups.
Monica Toman —13 students in one reading group.
