M. Nanette Butler of Sperryville was graduated this year from James Madison University, Harrisonburg with a B.S. degree in Communication Arts. She was active in the Campus Program Board; Alpha Epsilon Rho, an honorary broadcasting society; member of the yearbook staff, the Student Alumni Association, Contemporary Gospel Singers, Black Student Alliance, WMRA Radio, founder and charter member of an Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, campus chapter.
Ms. Butler has recently returned from a three week trip to England with a tour group of twenty from the University. They visited the great tower of London, Piccadilly Circus, Westminister Abbey, St. Stephens Tower-Big Ben, Windsor Castle, Trafalgar Square and Petticoat Lane. Every night was taken up by theatre, production of Shakespeare by the Royal Shakespeare Company.
The group visited the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford-onAvon, Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, Bathe and the seacoast towns of Brighton and Rye.
Ms. Butler is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Butler of Sperryville. She was a graduate of Rappahannock County High School, class of 1974 and is a member of the First Baptist Church, Washington.
