Carnival
The Washington Volunteer Fire Department announces that its annual carnival has been scheduled for August 23-26 this year. Candidates for honorary fire chief are being sought now and interested young ladies are asked to contact Mary Bailey or Ellen Manson. Additional workers will be needed at carnival time.
Jennings Hobson, president of the department, asks for the community’s support in making this a successful event.

Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Riley were in Brightwood Sunday where they "were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Newton, Michelle and Darrin. The dinner was in celebration of Darrin’s birthday.
Mrs. Frances Doyle attended homecoming Sunday at Elbrook Methodist Church in Washington.
Mrs. Ella Rowzie of Falls Church and her son Everette Rowzie of Alexandria spent the weekend at his cottage at Lake Wilson. Sunday afternoon the visited Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Doyle and Mrs. T. W. Latham.
The Amissville Methodist Womens Society had a luncheon meeting Wednesday at Graves Lodge, Syria.
Weekend visitors of Mrs. Sarah Latham were Mr. and Mrs. David Hoadley and Sarah Kearns of Falls Church, Susan Latham and Eddie Huff of Herndon and the David Streagle family. Shannon Streagle returned home with the Hoadley’s to spend this week.
