taught the proper uses of saws, axes and pocket knives. The girls also learned fire building, compass reading, knot tying, and lashing.

After a bag lunch and after several rains, the girls were supposed to apply their new skills in a “Wide Game," with teams of girls going from place to place and carrying out directions at each one. At the Fire circle the directions indicated the girls were supposed to put a square knot in a box of spaghetti. Much confusion and hilarity followed until the girls realized they could build up the fire and cook the spaghetti in boiling water to make it limber enough to tie in a knot.

For both groups the day ended with a campground clean up and a walk down the hill to meet parents coming to pick them up.
