The calf and yearling sale sponsored by the Page, Rappahannock & Warren Feeder Cattle Association was held at the Front Royal Livestock Sales on Tuesday morning, October 10, with 38 buyers registering from several states.
The top pen of steers were eight choice Charolais averaging 359 lbs. purchased at 80 cents by S. Henry Thomas, Luray. John & Henry Thomas, Luray, purchased the top pen of 23 choice Charolais heifers averaging 441 lbs. at 65Vj cents.
Largest consignor was Martin Brothers, Stanley, Va. Prices were as follows: STEERS:
Choice—300-500 lbs. averaged 76.84; 500 lbs. up averaged 62.65.
Good — 300-500 lbs. averaged 77.98; 500 lbs. up averaged 63.70.
Medium—300-500 lbs. averaged 70.59; 500 lbs. up averaged 58.79.
Shorts—300-500 lbs. averaged 59.22; 500 lbs. up averaged 56.05.
