Clater Dies

Collision

Robert (Bobby) Clater of Sperryville was the fatal victim of a two vehicle collison Friday evening in Sperrryville. He was a passenger in a 1978 Pontiac driven by Greg Settle, also of Sperryville. who sustained slight injuries, according to Trooper S. W. Weatherholtz.

The officer said investigation of the collision was continuing and no charges have been placed. The car was owned by Judy Whorton of Castleton.

According to Weatherholtz, the car operated by Settle struck a 1974 Ford pickup driven by Clifford Dennis of Castleton. Both vehicles were totaled, he said.

Clater and Settle were both taken to Culpeper Memorial Hospital where Clater was dead on arrival. Settle has been released following treatment. Injuries to Dennis were not too serious.
