Pallbearers included Charles K. Estes, Carson Johnson, Winfrey Burke, David Anderson, John Brown, Kenneth Clater, Roger Jenkins and Thomas Baldwin, Sr. Clore Funeral Home, Culpeper, was in charge of arrangements.
Kilby
Maury Wattson Kilby, 66, of Wytheville died October 8, 1978, in Wythe County Community Hospital. He was a native of Rappahannock, the son of the late Walter Blueford and Margaret Yowell Kilby.
He was a retired State Trooper and a Mason. He was prominent in civic affairs, was an avid horseman and an artist.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sue Wohl Ford Kilby of Wytheville; a daughter, Mrs. Susan Kilby Simpson of Roanoke; a son, Maury Wattson Kilby, Jr. of Johnson City, Tenn., and one grandson.
Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Margaret Tyus of Richmond, and three brothers, Earl J. Kilby and Irvin R. Kilby, both of Sperryville, and Walter L. Kilby of Woodstock.
A funeral service was conducted Tuesday October 10 at the Grubb Funeral Home by the Rev. Thomas Sproule, pastor of the Wytheville Presbyterian, Church. Interment was at the West End Cemetery, Wytheville.
