Construction
Virginia ranks second among all states in the amount of military construction authorized for fiscal 1980 in legislation cleared last week by the Senate Armed Services Committee, according to Virginia Senator John Warner.
The S3.72-billion bill, Warner said, would authorize the Department of Defense to spend nearly $164.5 million on various construction projects at Virginia military installations during the fiscal year beginning October 1, 1980.
Only California, with more than S274 million in new budget authority for military construction, ranks ahead of Virginia in the legislation. Texas is third with more than S106 million in new construction authority. Both states have large missile and space facilities.
