Services of the school psychologist were slashed from the current 120 hours spent in testing at the elementary school to 60 some by reducing the salary appropriation to
current budget and S9.500 less than superintendent William Bloomer recommended. The action came in a split decision with Charles Eldred and chairman Beverly Massie opposed. . The cut was made despite assistant superintendent Rob McDaniel’s reminder that the elementary school has just been found in noncompliance with state Standards of Quality regulations on testing for special education.. In its visit last month, the state’s administrative review team cited Rappahannock elementary for failure to meet the 45 day time limit for psychological testing after a child is referred for special education classes.
