Without a dance h'mll ordinance, the only remedy for noise problems is to charge offenders with disturbing the peace, he continued. Baumgardner noted, however, that it is often difficult to know exactly who is the wrong doer legally responsible for the disturbance.
“Maybe we ought to consider passing an ordinance,” Luke remarked.
With a dance hall ordinance, "you don’t need to haul a man to jail or charge him with a criminal offense” for creating a disturbance, Baumgardner responded. “You just don’t re-issue the permit,” he added.
Luke noted that he, Baldwin and the sheriff had received complaints about noise at the community center from only one landowner in the vicinity of the building. However, he instructed Baumgardner to prepare a draft of a dance hall ordinance for the supervisors to discuss at their April 3 meeting.
