Two Luray, Virginia, men were convicted of illegal trapping in Shenandoah National Park in the United States Magistrate Court. Charlottesville, announced Superintendent Robert R. Jacobsen.
The two men, Gifton Ellis and Louis Turner, were charged and found guilty of illegal trapping along Pass Run in Shenandoah National Park. Appearing on March 5, 1980, before Glen Conrad, U. S. Magistrate, the two men were fined $300 each and sentenced to six months in prison with all but five days of the prison sentence suspended.
"I would again like to remind all Park visitors that trapping and hunting wildlife are prohibited in Shenandoah National Park,” said Jacobsen.
