inspection fees would be paid directly by the contractor to PBM. They noted also that a contractor could plan work so that several inspections—for instance, plumbing, electrical and close-in—could be finished during one visit. If this approach is followed, they emphasized, the S25 fee will cover all three inspections.
Melnikoff advised the supervisors to have the local building official available five days per week to schedule appointments and answer questions, at least when the program begins.
If the official keeps office hours only three days a week, suggested supervisor E. P. Luke, the county could install a telephone recording device to take messages during the other two days.
Melnikoff agreed to bring a letter from his company’s board of directors to the April 3 supervisor meeting, formally setting out the details of the inspection service that PBM is offering the county.
Luke noted that Rappahannock’s building inspection program is not scheduled to begin until July 1, 1980, giving the board sufficient time to work out administrative details.
