(Continued from Page 1) Franklin Hitt died later the same evening in Culpeper Memorial Hospital where he was taken by the local rescue squad. The grand jury met for three and a half hours, on Monday apparently spending most of the time on the Hitt case, judging from the witnesses called. Deputy Thompson was questioned on three separate occasions while commonwealth’s attorney Douglas K. Baumgardner was asked for legal advice at one point.
Following the foreman’s announcement that the grand jury had tailed to find a true bill against Glenn Hitt, the widow, of the deceased. Frances A. Hitt, broke into sobs. As she got up to leave the courtroom, she collapsed in a faint, her fall broken by the quick action of Rappahannock sheriff W. A. Buntin who also revived her with the application of paper towels wet from the downstairs drinking fountain. She was helped from the courtroom, still distraught, supported by friends.
In the second case under consideration, the grand jury returned a true bill for arson against James Franklin Williams of Amissville.
