husband organized last year with Randall and Tony Updike to enter a float in the Sperryville carnival parade Wednesday night. In addition. the club operated a stand at July 4 festivities in Washington.

If all goes well, the kids also hope to enter their float in the Flint Hill carnival parade but Birgitt's concerned that the fragile chicken wire and tissue paper display won’t stand up under the trip. “It’s a long way from Woodville to Flint Hill." she said, doubting that the float could survive the journey.

Besides working the existing 4-H clubs and the program to introduce students in third and fourth grade to 4-H during special classes at the elementary school, Birgitt would like to involve more county youngsters in homemakers, livestock, horse and pony, dog care, gardening and other 4-H groups. But to achieve her goal of a vital county 4-H program, she needs youngsters as members and parents as volunteers. Kids interested in joining and parents willing to serve as leaders may contact Rappahannock’s new home agent at the extension office, 6753619.
