NOTICE
OF PUBLIC HEARING
The Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock County will hold a public hearing on Monday, August 4, 1980 at 10:00 o'clock A M. in the Courthouse at Washington, Virginia, regarding the following proposed Rappahannock County Real Estate and Personal Property Tax Ordinance.
WHEREAS, Section 58-847 of the Code of Virginia of 1950, as amended, authorized the local governing bodies of the Counties of the Commonwealth of Virginia to provide for the payment in installments of taxes due and owing the said Counties as to real estate, to set certain dates after which penalties and interest shall apply for payment of taxes due and owing the said Counties as to real estate and tangible personal property, machinery and tools and merchant’s capital, and to set the rate, within certain prescribed limits, of such penalty and such interest;
BE IT HEREBY ORDAINED AND ENACTED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY:
1. That taxes due and owing to the County of Rappahannock for real estate, tangible personal property, machinery and tools and merchants’ capital shall be due and payable in one installment on or before the 5th day of December of the current year the tax is assessed; and on all such taxes remaining unpaid after that date there shill be added (0 a penalty of ten (10) percent of the taxes due and (ii) interest thereon at the rate of eight (8) percent per annum commencing and following 1st day of January and continuing until paid. 2. The provisions herein are in no way intended to alter any other provisions of State law or County Ordinance, the subject of which is not specifically addressed herein. 3. If any part of this ordinance is, for any reason, held by a Court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance. 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect commencing upon enactment.
